Working Groups

EDMO Hubs Working Groups

EDMO Hubs Working Groups have been established to foster collaboration in the relevant areas of activity of the network. These collaboration units coordinated by representatives from EDMOeu are composed of members of the EDMO Hubs and have the overall mission to build communities of trust for knowledge exchange among experts and practitioners active in different information environments and cultivate fertile grounds for collaborative activities.

EDMO Hubs Media Literacy Working Group

The main envisaged actions for collaboration in the area are:

Continue to strengthen the EDMO Digital and Media Literacy community by organising regular meetings and opportunities to exchange relevant experience and good practice.
Promote and make visible the outcomes of work carried out by the EDMO Digital and Media Literacy community through relevant channels particularly where concrete results can be highlighted.
Continue to inform the policy debate about how to raise media literacy levels across society through EDMOeu and EDMO Hubs in a continued effort to promote social cohesion and democracy in Europe.

EDMO Hubs Policy Research and Analysis Working Group

Collaborative research on disinformation policies.
Discussing methodologies to assess the impact of the Code of Practice.
Evaluating different aspects of online platform data access for policy research.

EDMO Hubs Research Working Group

Working Group Coordinators:

The main envisaged actions for collaboration in the area are:

Discussing experiences, suggestions and strategies related to researchers’ experiences with accessing platform data.
Implementing coordinated responses to the latest developments (e.g., Russia-Ukraine war, European Elections, the rise of Generative AI).
Sharing of best practices, resources and experiences in relation to general research activities across a variety of topics.

Collaboration on Fact-checking

The EDMO fact-checking network serves as an inclusive framework for collaboration among all fact-checking organizations within the EDMO Hubs.

Collaborative initiatives in this area include the Best of Fact-checking Map.

EDMO Hubs Communications Working Group

Working Group Chair:

The main envisaged actions for collaboration in the area are:

Facilitating open internal exchange on future, present and past communications activities by the 14 EDMO Hubs and EDMOeu.
Exploring and implementing joint initiatives and other steps to amplify the impact and reach of activities and outputs by the Hubs and EDMOeu.
Ensuring each other’s upfront awareness of key communications opportunities.

Internal Expert Group on GenAI and Disinformation

The main envisaged actions for collaboration in the area are:

Bringing together hub members across the four areas of competence to explore key issues related to this topic, and eventually producing outputs.
Fostering idea exploration, collaboration and development of initiatives that address the challenges brought about by Generative AI in its role in exacerbating disinformation – as well as ways AI technology can be leveraged to tackle disinformation.
Hosting external speakers, presentations on best practices and spotlighting working projects operating in the space of Generative AI and disinformation.
