Moldova: 2025 Parliamentary Election, 2024 Presidential Election and National Referendum on EU Membership

Following the 2024 presidential election and national referendum on EU membership, the 2025 parliamentary election marks another crucial moment for the Republic of Moldova. Given the high risk of disinformation targeting the integrity of these key democratic processes, the European Digital Media Observatory initiated the setup of a temporary escalation mechanism to facilitate the flagging of time-sensitive harmful content on major online platforms. This work builds on EDMO’s intensive efforts during the 2024 European Parliament Elections, when it successfully created and used a similar rapid response system.

Additionally, using the strengths of its growing network, both the Bulgarian-Romanian Digital Media Observatory (BROD) and the new EDMO Hub FACT are closely following and analysing the electoral period in Moldova. You can find more information on the relevant activities carried out by BROD here and by FACT here. All English insights are available below.

Georgia: Parliamentary Election On 26 October 2024

Having received official candidate status from the European Council in December 2023 on the understanding that steps set out by the Commission are taken, Georgia marks a key country in the immediate neighborhood of the EU and its cross-border information spaces.

The EDMO Fact-Checking Network worked closely with IFCN and EFCSN members in Georgia to support their efforts to counter elections-related disinformation in the country. You can find all content below.
