EDMO Online Training: “The InVID-WeVerify verification toolbox”

The European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) is pleased to offer this online training module on “The InVID-WeVerify verification toolbox”, organised in collaboration with the Observatoire de l’Information et des médias (DE FACTO), the Ireland Hub and the vera.ai project.

During the training, participants will learn how to master the use of the InVID-WeVerify verification toolbox, including the advanced tools reserved for fact-checkers, journalists and researchers fighting disinformation. Trainers will share tips about recent improvements integrated into the plugin. Participants will get insights about new features, such as a synthetic media detector from the veraai.eu project and will be granted access to this beta release.

Target audience:

The training is open to stakeholders working to tackle disinformation including journalists, fact-checkers, and government representatives. Further editions of this training module will be repeated on a regular basis.

Denis Teyssou is a senior journalist managing Agence France-Presse (AFP) Medialab and a PhD candidate in Information Sciences at Paris Nanterre University. He is the innovation manager of the veraai.eu project (VERificiation Assisted by Articial Intelligence; 2022-2025) and is the founder of the InVID-WeVerify verification plugin. Denis has co-edited the book Video Verification in the Fake News Era (2019, Springer) and co-authored the UNESCO report Balancing Act: Countering Digital Disinformation While Respecting Freedom of Expression (2020).

Prof. Dr. Kalina Bontcheva is an EDMO Advisory Council member, researching AI methods for detection and analysis of online disinformation. She has leadership roles in the EC-funded vera.ai project, and the EDMO Ireland and BROD Hubs.
