EDMO’S seminar on climate change disinformation

The European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) is organising a seminar on climate change disinformation on 9 March 2023.

Format: Hybrid

Venue: Sala delle Colonne (Luiss Campus, Viale Pola 12, Rome)

Time: 16:00-17:20 CET

Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges facing our planet today, and it requires urgent action from individuals, communities, and governments around the world. Unfortunately, the spread of disinformation and false news has made it increasingly difficult for people to understand the severity of the problem and take appropriate action.

The seminar will feature expert speakers, including Paula Gori, the EDMO Secretary General, Tommaso Canetta, the EDMO Fact-checking Coordinator, and Emma Goodman, the EDMO Media and Information Literacy specialist.

One of the key objectives of the seminar is to raise awareness about the extent of climate change disinformation and its impact on public opinion and policy.

The seminar will cover a range of topics related to climate change disinformation, including how it spreads, why it is so dangerous, and what we can do to combat it. The speakers will discuss some of the most common myths and misconceptions about climate change and explain how they can be debunked using scientific evidence and factual information. They will also highlight the role of digital media in spreading disinformation and the need for more effective fact-checking and media literacy initiatives.
